Sources
Every price, statistic and regulation in a Septic Guide article links to a named, dated source: a state or federal agency (such as the U.S. EPA's SepticSmart program or a state health department), a regulation, a manufacturer document, or a published cost guide. When sources disagree, we show the range and say whose figure is whose. We do not invent figures or round them into false precision.
Directory data
Directory listings come from state license lists and public business information, as described in how we verify licenses. Nobody can pay to be listed as licensed or to rank higher. If we ever accept paid placement, it will be labeled on the listing.
Updates
Cost guides are reviewed at least every 90 days and carry the date they were last updated. Licensing pages are reviewed when a state changes its program, and at least quarterly.
Corrections
If you find an error in a guide or a listing, tell us through the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.
Not professional advice
Our guides explain how septic systems and septic work generally go. They are not engineering, legal or inspection advice for your property; your local health department and a licensed septic professional have the final word.
